Hello, in today's post, I am going to talk about something that's important in Hoodoo. However, before that, I want to speak about something that I feel is not talked about enough. There is an issue that I want to clear up throughout this article. People who practice spirituality on all levels have a misunderstanding, which is, when you start out your journey in spiritual work, people normally assume that you need a lot of items when starting your Hoodoo practice. They think you need to go to your local botanica and buy all of the products necessary for any type of work that will happen. However, I’m here to say that this is not the case. Whether you are just starting out or have many years of experience, I believe that we spiritual workers often tend to think more about the products that we are using rather than the other factors that go into a successful spiritual working. Faith is one of the most important things that you need for work to be successful, plus intention. An important factor to keep in mind while you are doing the spiritual work is how you are feeling during the process of the ritual. Are you excited or sad? Your emotional state has a large effect on the success of your spiritual work. So, getting back on track with the message of this article, which is about utilizing what you have in Hoodoo/spiritual work.
An example I would like to use for understanding using what you have is the time I was doing spiritual work for a client, and during this ritual, I was doing it to increase more customers coming into their store. During this time, I was going through some personal issues in my life(even though I am a spiritual worker, I still have a personal life and issues as well). During the work, I was receiving signs that the work would not be successful. I was using a candle to bring more clients in faster. However, the candle was black, even though this was a good candle. Once I saw the black, I used my divination methods to understand why the work was facing blockage and would not manifest. The reason was clear: my spirits were telling me that I was at fault. Also, a side note, when doing any type of divination method, you cannot be emotional when reading, or you can’t put your own interpretation that you want on the readings. You need to be able to get the message from spirit so you can deliver the message. When I got the message, it was clear that the issue was me. What I did was message the client and explain what was going on. I also refunded them their money because there was no issue on their part. I refocused myself, and I redid the work for free. That work for my client turned out successfully. There was an increase in clients for their business. So, that’s why working with less is better, because the essentials that you need to be a successful spiritual worker are within you.
The most important tools you need to be successful in Hoodoo, you should already have. These items are a strong spirit, the ability to communicate with spirit, and self-belief. These are things that people often do not discuss in the spiritual community, but they are essential for being a strong and effective spiritualist. As I was saying, visiting the botanica is important, but it should never overshadow the essential things you will need. This spiritual path will force you to go through a lot of trials, and you will learn more about yourself, your family lineage, and the customs and traditions that you and your ancestors have practiced for years.
