Hello, everyone reading this blog. I am Conjure Man M, and I am writing this because this is going to be the start of this blog. This blog is for people who want to learn about hoodoo/rootwork/conjure, the history, the workings, and the information that is important to know to become the best root worker possible. Well, let's get started!
So you're starting off in hoodoo, or you may be interested in what hoodoo is. Fret not, because I will explain what hoodoo is and how it came to be the practice that it is.
Hoodoo had started in the 1600s, when the slaves were brought to the colonies to be enslaved and for forced labor, and exploitation. However, the slaves who were brought to the colonies also brought their cultures, their religions, and their spiritual beliefs. The slaves were not able to openly practice their spiritual practices. They were forced to adopt the religion of their new environment, which was Christianity, and from that point, the slaves who were brought here, and with time passing, the African Americans had adopted other aspects such as herbology. Information from Native Americans about the plants of the land, as well as some of the information, was adopted by African Americans from Jewish mysticism as well. Of course, the Africans who were brought to this country already had extensive information about herbs, roots, and stones, so they brought their information here.
From then until now, the information of rootwork and hoodoo has been passed down, and some ideas and concepts have even been expanded. This is a quick synopsis of the history of the inception of hoodoo, but with this blog and throughout time, I will go into more detail about many other topics related to Hoodoo and spirituality. Thank you so much for reading!
